MEER

The Mariana Trench Environment and Ecology Research Project (MEER). The goal of this project is to collaboratively address significant scientific challenges, including the formation and evolution of deep-sea geological systems, the origins of life and adaptability to environmental conditions, biodiversity, and the impacts of climate change. This initiative is set to further deepen research and bolster international cooperation in the domain of deep-sea science.

Mission

The mission of the ExMODE is to provide a repository for the systematic integration, standardized annotation, and comparative analysis of microbial genomic datasets from extreme environments. The platform centralizes and curated biological data derived from five distinct extreme habitats, namely thermal, cryogenic, acidic, saline, and hyperbaric ecosystems. Specifically, ExMODE archives and provisions structured datasets spanning protein sequences, predicted protein structures, metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs), and biosynthetic gene clusters for secondary metabolites. Our core objective is to facilitate the objective exploration of microbial adaptive mechanisms and to support the transparent profiling of biological diversity, thereby offering a reliable and standardized resource for community-driven research in environmental biology and biotechnology.
